Since this week, the Retamar-El Toyo neighbourhood has a public open-air car park with 93 spaces on calle Juegos de Casablanca, set up by the Almería City Council on a municipal plot with an investment of 103.980,94 euros.
The new car park occupies a municipal plot of 2.250 square metres on calle Juegos de Casablanca, in the Retamar-El Toyo neighbourhood. Of its 93 spaces, 71 are for cars, 18 for motorcycles and four are reserved for people with reduced mobility. The facility has lighting for those who use it.
Spaces and accessibility
The work began in late September and has already finished. The City Council has invested 103.980,94 euros in preparing a plot that, according to the Consistorio, was degraded and had no use. The car park is near the hotel area and the beach.
The mayor of Almería, María del Mar Vázquez, explained that the lack of parking was "a neighbourhood and social demand of this neighbourhood". According to her, the new space makes it possible to gain parking spaces and to make access easier to a neighbourhood that is much visited both in summer and throughout the year.
Who took part
At the visit to the car park were the mayor, the councillor for Obras Públicas, Mantenimiento, Accesibilidad y Economía Azul, Sacramento Sánchez, municipal technicians and representatives of the Asociación de Vecinos y Comunidades Retamar-Toyo, including its president, Elena Hernández. Vázquez thanked the residents for their involvement in asking for improvements for the neighbourhood.
Use of the car park
The car park is public and open-air. No procedure, reservation or payment has been announced for using it.
