The development and construction companies in Almería that are members of the Association of Building Developers and Constructors or of the Provincial Grouping of Public Works Contractors, both integrated into Asempal, will be able to take out insurance for their activity on advantageous economic terms. This is what is set out in the collaboration agreement that both organisations have renewed with MUSAAT (Mutual Insurance Company of Quantity Surveyors and Technical Architects) and the insurance brokerage company of the Official College of Quantity Surveyors and Technical Architects of Almería (COAAT).

What the agreement covers

The agreement gives access to the insurance products of MUSAAT, an entity specialising in the building and construction sector. These include ten-year damage insurance, civil liability insurance and insurance guaranteeing advance payments for the purchase of homes. It also includes other types of cover intended to protect against the risks inherent in development and construction activity. According to the signatory entities, the aim is for member companies to have protection instruments against the risks arising from their work.

Seminar on site inspections

Before the signing, a technical seminar was held on site inspections and insurance cover for construction risks. The speakers were the director of the Occupational Risk Prevention Centre of Almería, Rafael Zafra; the labour deputy inspector of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Rocío Hernández, and the manager of COAATIEMU, Manuel Serrano. The session addressed inspection procedures on building sites, the applicable regulations and the main cover available to the sector.

The signing

The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the COAAT of Almería. Those taking part were its president, José María Rodríguez; María Paz García, representing MUSAAT; Manuel Gutiérrez, president of the Provincial Grouping of Public Works Contractors, and Juan Murcia, president of the Association of Developers and Constructors. Rodríguez expressed his satisfaction at the continuity of the collaboration, which in his view helps to strengthen relations between technical professionals and companies in the sector. García thanked both business organisations for their trust in the mutual and conveyed her commitment to offering an appropriate insurance response to developers and contractors in Almería.
