FICAL 2026 announces the 27 series nominated for the VI Festival de Series

The Almería International Film Festival (FICAL) now has the 27 nominated series for the sixth edition of its National Television Series Competition. The productions compete for the 13 official awards of this section, which is added to the festival's feature film and short film sections.
From the platforms to Almería
Among the companies that sign and broadcast the nominated titles are Antena 3, atresplayer, Movistar Plus+, Mediaset España, TVE, Prime Video, Netflix, Skyshowtime and Disney+, as well as production companies such as Bowfinger and Sony International Pictures.
The series are divided into categories of dramatic fiction, comedy, miniseries or original feature film and daily broadcast, along with awards for showrunners and for female and male performance.
More nominees by category
The director of FICAL, Enrique Iznaola, has noted that in each category the number of nominees has gone from four to six and that the jury will have a "very difficult" time choosing. According to him, the jury is made up of 15 professionals and there will be unreleased productions in competition.
The competition also keeps a special audience award that is voted through the festival's app.
Who is competing
Among the nominated series are A la deriva, El inmortal T3, La nena, Matar a un oso, Pura sangre and Sira in the drama category; Barrio Esperanza, Celeste T2, Cochinas, La que se avecina T16, Muertos S.L. T4 and Padre no hay más que uno. La serie, in comedy; and 33 días, Aquel, El castillo, El homenaje, Ella maldita alma and La Frontera, in miniseries or original feature film.
In daily broadcast, Sueños de libertad T3 and La promesa T5 compete.
Assessments
The councillor Almudena Morales has highlighted the "plurality and standing" of the nominated productions, while the councillor for Culture, Joaquín Pérez de la Blanca, has valued that FICAL has a specific section for series.
