The Municipal Music Band of Almería begins its autumn cycle on Sunday, October 18 at the Teatro Apolo, at 12.00 hours, with a programme on music from Spain and Latin America and free admission until full capacity is reached.
The Banda Municipal de Música de Almería begins its autumn season this Sunday, October 18, at the Teatro Apolo. The concert will be at 12.00 hours and admission is free until full capacity is reached, as part of the programme of the Área de Cultura, Educación, Museos y Tradiciones del Ayuntamiento.
Music from here and there
The programme is titled ‘Una mirada a la Hispanidad, músicas de acá y de allá’ and has been organised taking advantage of the proximity of October 12. According to the director of the Banda, José Solá, it proposes «a journey through different musical traditions of Spain and Latin America, through works that incorporate popular musical elements into conventional writing».
The concert will open with ‘Fiesta romera’, a pasodoble by Juan Antonio García Mesas, and will continue with ‘Acuarelas campesinas’, by Emilio Cebrián Ruiz. Then ‘Los Madriles’, by Miguel Asins Arbó, will be played, and the second part will delve into Latin American music with ‘Joropo’, by the Venezuelan Moisés Moleiro, and ‘Huapango’, by the Mexican José Pablo Moncayo. It will close with ‘Cordillera de los Andes’, by Arie Malando.
The rest of the autumn
The autumn season of the Banda Municipal consists of five concerts. After the one on Sunday, October 18, the next will be on Sunday, October 25, with ‘Una mirada paralela a la música para banda y orquesta del siglo XIX’. On Sunday, November 8, the ensemble will take part in the Almerijazz with ‘Una mirada al jazz en paralelo: Andalucía – Estados Unidos’. On November 29 will come ‘Una mirada a nuestros solistas (3)’ and on December 13 ‘Una mirada a nuestros solistas (4)’, the last before the extraordinary Christmas concert.

For the concert on Sunday, October 18, there is no need to register or buy a ticket: access is free until the capacity of the Teatro Apolo is full. The event is at 12.00 hours.
