Unicaja Costa de Almería has held its first Media Day, a meeting with companies and public administrations to present the first team and the official kit for the season. According to the club, around thirty companies from the province attended the event, as well as representatives of the Diputación, the Ayuntamiento de Almería and the Junta de Andalucía.
Forty years of history
The club is 40 years old, counted from last September 11, and this season is marked by that anniversary. On the Moisés Ruiz court, the thirty trophies from the national titles won over these four decades were placed. The president of the entity, Pablo Martínez, reviewed the club's history and recalled the 1998 European runners-up finish, which he described as the greatest milestone in Spanish men's club volleyball.
A call for sponsorship
The event also served to ask for the collaboration of the business community. Antonio Cayuela, regional director of Andalucía Oriental at Unicaja, encouraged companies to support the club as part of their corporate social responsibility: «This belongs to everyone, so I encourage you to support it as part of your CSR; the club belongs to you and represents you».
Pablo Martínez assured that sponsoring the entity has economic advantages, quantifiable through its official declaration as an Entidad de Utilidad Pública in Andalucía, and stated that «supporting Unicaja Costa de Almería is good for the Almería feeling and for each company's pocket». According to the club, after the meeting, approaches began with interested companies.
The public administrations
At the opening, María Luisa Cruz spoke for the Diputación; Antonio Casimiro for the Ayuntamiento de Almería, and Juanjo Alonso for the Junta de Andalucía. Cruz highlighted the club's commitment to the 103 municipalities of the province and Alonso stressed that it is the only Andalusian representative in the Superliga Masculina.
