The Conjunto Monumental de la Alcazaba de Almería will host a guided tour of its three enclosures on Saturday, November 7 at 11:00. The tour will be led by Juan Francisco Escámez Trujillo, an expert in Almería's urban planning and architecture, according to the University of Almería.

What will be seen during the tour

The visit will allow participants to learn about the different construction typologies of the enclosure, its archaeological remains and its garden spaces. Along the itinerary, the origins of the city will also be explained and the urban landscape can be contemplated from some of its viewpoints.

A complex of almost a thousand years of history

The Alcazaba and the walls of the Cerro de San Cristóbal form one of the most important monumental and archaeological complexes in Andalusia and the Iberian Peninsula. Its almost thousand years of history allow us to follow the evolution of civil and military architecture during the Arab domination in Al-Ándalus, as it was built in several phases and periods, with a castle and towers from the late medieval Christian period (15th and 16th centuries). The complex occupies an isolated hill and its walls exceed three metres in width and five metres in height. According to the Oficina de Turismo de Almería, the total perimeter of the fortification reaches 1430 metres, counting the late medieval castle, the preserved alcazaba and the rest of the outer walls.

How to take part

The activity takes place on Saturday, November 7 at 11:00. Information about the meeting point, the price and how to register is available on the AlmeríaYa agenda page: Conjunto Monumental de la Alcazaba.
