Monday, November 2 is a public holiday throughout Andalucía. It is set by Decree 101/2025, published in BOJA issue 93 of May 19, 2025: as November 1 falls this year on a Sunday, the All Saints' Day holiday moves to Monday. The long weekend runs from Saturday, October 31 to Monday, November 2.
The Almería City Council prepares a special operation each year at its five cemeteries: San José and Santa Adela, in the city, and those in the neighbourhoods of Cabo de Gata, El Alquián, La Cañada and Cuevas de los Medinas. As of October 27 it had not published this year's.
Cemeteries in the city
The usual opening hours of the San José and Santa Adela cemetery are 9.00 to 13.00 and 16.00 to 18.00; on Mondays the municipal cemeteries are usually closed.
In 2025 the City Council opened the city's five cemeteries from 9.00 to 18.00, without closing at midday, from October 30 to November 2, and also opened on Monday, October 27, a day when they are usually closed. At San José and Santa Adela the north, south and side doors were opened for entry and exit, and there were ten reinforcement assistants and a free electric vehicle to accompany people with reduced mobility inside the grounds. The cemeteries office, at the entrance of the Sol de Portocarrero funeral home-crematorium, extended its hours to help locate graves. Its phone number is 950 884 828.
In 2025 there was a mass on November 1 at 12.00 in the Jardín del Recuerdo of the San José cemetery, live classical music that morning and masses in the neighbourhood cemeteries. Surbus lines 2 and 3 extended their route to the cemetery between 8.30 and 18.30 and line 18 had reinforcements. This year Surbus staff have been on indefinite strike since October 20, with minimum services of 50 %, and as of October 27 there was still no agreement or announced reinforcement to the cemetery, so it is advisable to plan the journey. The City Council recommends planning trips in advance and, for those who can, carpooling or using the municipal bicycle rental. The City Council recommends not arriving before opening time, because maintenance work is done before and after the opening hours.
Municipalities in the province
Roquetas de Mar, El Ejido, Níjar and Adra had not published the special hours of their cemeteries as of October 28. Vícar has announced that it will have one worker at each cemetery and a traffic operation, without special hours. Berja keeps its hours of 10.00 to 18.00, holds masses on Sunday the 1st at 10.30 in Benínar and at 12.00 in Berja and provides a free bus to the cemetery. In 2025 Roquetas opened its three cemeteries from 9.00 to 19.00 from October 28 to November 3. They usually announce it in the last week of October.
What opens and what closes
The 2026 calendar of Sundays and public holidays for commercial opening, approved by Order of June 23, 2025 (BOJA issue 121, of June 26), includes Monday, November 2 among the 16 days on which shops may open in Andalucía. Sunday the 1st is not on the list. Opening on Monday is an option for each business, not an obligation, and the order allows city councils to request a change of up to two dates. The next authorised opening is Sunday, November 29.
Banks, public offices and registries close on Monday the 2nd, which is a public holiday for all purposes. City buses usually run on Sunday and Monday with their holiday schedule; in the city, moreover, Surbus is on indefinite strike with minimum services. The pharmacies open each day can be checked on our duty pharmacies page: /farmacias-de-guardia.
