Amigos de la Alcazaba schedules four cultural activities in the second half of October

Amigos de la Alcazaba has scheduled four cultural activities for the second half of October, open to its members and to the interested public. The visits will be guided by specialists and are part of the association's heritage outreach programmes.
Orce, on Saturday 17
The first date will be on Saturday, October 17, with the visit «Orce, where everything begins», included in the provincial programme Senderos de Historia and guided by María del Carmen Torres. The route includes the Museo de Prehistoria Josep Gibert, the Venta Micena, Barranco León and Fuente Nueva sites, the historic centre of Orce, the church of Santa María de la Anunciación, the Palacio de los Segura and the Alcazaba de las Siete Torres. The day is completed with a lunch of cordero segureño and a walk to the Fuencaliente spring.
The railway, on Saturday 24
On Saturday, October 24, the activity will be «El patrimonio ferroviario almeriense», within the programme Las Huellas de nuestra historia. The historian Pedro Mena and Antonio Aguilera, secretary of the Asociación de Amigos del Ferrocarril de Almería (ASAFAL), will accompany the participants through the Almería railway station, the Cable Inglés and the ASAFAL headquarters-museum, where a 32-square-metre railway installation recreating the old Linares-Almería line can be seen.
Los Millares, on Friday 30
On Friday, October 30, the visit «Los Millares al descubierto. Últimos descubrimientos de 2026» will take place, also within Senderos de Historia. Martín Haro Navarro, coordinator of the Enclave Arqueológico de Los Millares, will guide the tour of this prehistoric settlement more than 5,000 years old. The activity coincides with the last days of the excavation campaign of the Proyecto Millares, which has been under way for four years.
Concert in Granada, on Saturday 31
The programme will close on Saturday, October 31, with the collaboration of Amigos de la Alcazaba in the concert «San Juan de la Cruz. La música del silencio», at the Abadía del Sacromonte in Granada. It is the first activity of the collaboration agreement between Amigos de la Alcazaba and the Asociación de la Abadía del Sacromonte. The exchange will continue on November 7, when the Granada association will visit the Alcazaba de Almería.
