The Almería City Council has put out to tender the recovery of two heritage trails on the outskirts of the city. The combined investment amounts to 650,886.61 euros and interested companies can submit their bids until November 9. Both procedures have been published on the Public Sector Contracting Platform.
The works are part of the municipal project "Almería camina por su historia" and fall within the Integrated Action Plan (PAI) "Almería Ciudad Abierta y de Encuentro", with European funding from the ERDF funds.
The Muralla de Jayrán trail
The first action is the conservation and restoration of the northern surroundings of the Muralla de Jayrán, in the Barrio del Santo, in San Cristóbal. It has a budget of 485,227.36 euros and an expected execution period of four months.
The works focus on about 760 metres of trail, within an area of 27,282 square metres. They include improving accessibility and safety along the route, new railings, signage and furniture, as well as the creation of two viewpoints of 617 and 393 square metres. An area of 3,870 square metres will also be environmentally restored with native plant species and drainage will be improved.
1.6 kilometres of the Camino Viejo
The second action is the urban and landscape restoration of the Camino Viejo and its route towards the Cantera de Bayyana. The budget is 165,659.25 euros and the execution period is three months.
Work will be carried out on approximately 1.6 kilometres of route, with cleaning and conditioning of the paths, repair of walls and improvement of railings and stairs. The intervention includes signage to identify sites such as the Torre del Fielato, the Cantera de Bayyana and the old Campsa tanks, and to improve access to a natural viewpoint.
What it means for the city
According to the City Council, these actions will make it possible to recover historic paths for walking, hiking and outdoor sports activities, and to connect the historic neighbourhoods with their natural surroundings. The mayor, María del Mar Vázquez, has stated that the goal is to "recover old paths that are part of our identity" and turn them into "safe, accessible spaces connected with the city".
The projects have been drafted by Hábitat Gestión Técnica y Ambiental. Vázquez has visited the northern surroundings of the Muralla de Jayrán together with the councillor for Urbanism, Housing and Major Festivals, Eloísa Cabrera, and the councillor for Ciudad Activa, Movilidad Urbana y Deportes, Antonio Jesús Casimiro.
How to submit a bid
Companies wishing to carry out these works can submit their bids through the Public Sector Contracting Platform until November 9.
