The Local Police of El Ejido has received a decoration in Catarroja for the help provided during the DANA, according to the El Ejido Town Council. The recognition was presented at an institutional event held as a show of gratitude towards the security forces that collaborated in the emergency and in memory of the victims.

A distinction also for the Town Council

Alongside the officers, a distinction was presented to the El Ejido Town Council and its Local Police for the support provided during those days. It was received by the mayor of El Ejido, Julia Ibáñez, and the chief superintendent of the Local Police, Marco Muñoz. The officers travelled to Catarroja almost two years ago to join the emergency operation deployed to address the needs of the population.

What the recognition means

The decoration comes after the El Ejido officers worked on the ground in one of the towns affected by the DANA, Catarroja, alongside the rest of the security forces that took part in the operation. The event served both to thank them for that collaboration and to remember the victims of the catastrophe. The El Ejido Town Council stresses that the distinction extends to the municipal institution itself and to its police headquarters, not only to the deployed officers.
