Xavier García Pimienta has passed one hundred days as coach of UD Almería and has made an initial assessment of his time in charge of the team. The manager reviewed his arrival at the club, his way of working and his relationship with the city in statements to the entity's official media.

An assessment of the season

On the team's performance, García Pimienta noted that "we have earned the right to be where we are", although he warned that "there are thirty-two matchdays left and many things will still happen ahead". The coach explained that the team "is training well, we act seriously and we respect the opponent", and added that "what is happening marks our path". The manager also referred to the possibility of losing a match. "Great teams are the ones that recover quickly and well from a type of action. We have to be prepared for everything," he stated. As for the fans, he assured that he wants them to "feel fully identified with their team and feel proud, regardless of the result".

His life in Almería

García Pimienta recalled that ten years ago he was on holiday in Cabo de Gata and that he already knew the city then. "It is a charming city where you have everything except communications, unfortunately," he said. About his daily life, he explained that his life in Almería is quiet, focused on football and family. "When my wife is here with me, we go out for a walk, to have a beer. This gives me life," he said. Asked whether the player García Pimienta would have a place in the current Almería, he responded that it would be "complicated because we have a very complete squad", although he acknowledged that "he could make it difficult for the coach". The manager cited Quique Costas, whom he had at Barcelona's reserve team, as the coach who has marked him most, and expressed his admiration for the work of Cesc Fábregat at Italy's Como.
