Garrucha once again puts the red prawn at the centre. The seventh edition of the Red Prawn Gastronomic Festival is held from Friday, November 6 to Sunday, November 8 on the Port esplanade, with 14 restaurant stands and 10 producer stands, live music and children's activities. The food stands will open from 13:00 to 16:30 and from 19:30 to 00:00. Tapas will cost 3.50 euros for the standard one and 4.00 euros for the red prawn one. On Sunday, 300 kilos of red prawn will be handed out at popular prices to bring the product closer to residents and visitors.

Music every afternoon and a play area for families

Live music will start every afternoon at 18:00. On Friday, November 6, a tribute to Estopa will perform, on Saturday, November 7 it will be the turn of the Freedom Band and on Sunday, November 8 the group Elegante y Embustero will close. To make family attendance easier, the venue will have a children's play area from 14:00 to 19:00 during all three days. The mayor of Garrucha, Álvaro Ramos, has said that the festival is "an opportunity to open the doors of the municipality and share our seafaring roots with everyone", and added that it seeks to boost the local economy outside the high summer season and generate employment. The councillor for Commerce, Pablo Fernández, has explained that the event also pays tribute to the hospitality professionals of the municipality. The provincial deputy Ana Lourdes Ramírez has presented the programme together with Ramos and Fernández at the Palacio Provincial de la Diputación de Almería, according to the provincial institution. Ramírez has stressed that the red prawn is "an extraordinary ambassador for the entire province of Almería". No prior registration is needed to attend: simply go to the Port esplanade during the three days of the festival and buy the tapas at the stands.
