Almería puts out to tender the installation of permanent decorative lighting on the Paseo

The City Council opens the period for companies to submit bids until October 20 to light up half of the trees along Paseo de Almería with LED strips, from Puerta Purchena to Plaza Circular.
The Almería City Council, through the Municipal Urban Planning Department, has opened the tender procedure to install ornamental lighting on Paseo de Almería. The aim, according to the City Council, is to improve the lighting of the space following its recent remodelling.
Budget and deadlines
The contract has a base tender budget of 88.595,66 euros, VAT included. Interested companies may submit their offers until October 20. Once the contract is awarded, the works will have an execution period of 40 days, with no possibility of extension.
What the action consists of
The project envisages installing LED strips on half of the trees along the Paseo, specifically on the ficus trees, with approximately 40 metres of light cabling per tree. The installation also includes the cabling, power supplies and the other elements necessary for its operation.
The action will be carried out along the entire Paseo de Almería, from Puerta de Purchena to Plaza Circular.
To execute this lighting, part of the infrastructure built during the Paseo remodelling works will be used, such as the inspection chambers, the event columns and the conduits already planned. This will allow, according to the City Council, the lighting to be integrated into the urban design without the need for a new intervention on the space.
Planned materials
Among the technical elements included in the contract are:
- 3.600 metres of LED strip
- 1.600 metres of braided cable
- 1.100 metres of power line
- 90 power supplies with controller
The contract also includes the work necessary for the legalisation of the installation.
Aim of the action
The City Council states that this intervention seeks to complement the lighting already existing on the Paseo with another of a decorative nature, designed to reinforce the attractiveness of the space at night. According to the council, the new configuration of the Paseo as a pedestrian priority zone has favoured more intensive use of the space, as well as local commerce and other civic activities.
Companies interested in participating in the tender have until October 20 to submit their offers.
