The fifth edition of the Almería Animal Adoption Fair will be held for the first time at the Mirador de la Rambla, with workshops, adoption parades and activities for all audiences.
The Almería Animal Adoption Fair, AlmAnimal, will be held on October 23, 24 and 25 at the Mirador de la Rambla. This is the first time this event has been set up in a central area of the city, as announced by the councillor for Environmental and Energy Sustainability, Antonio Urdiales.
What you can do
During the three days there will be children's workshops, storytelling, gymkhanas, dog demonstrations and exhibitions by the Canine Unit of the Local Police and the Club Canino Ciudad de Almería. Open veterinary consultations, talks on animal welfare and responsible ownership, and adoption parades featuring dogs and cats from the Centro de Protección y Adopción Animal Municipal de Almería (CEPAaMA) have also been scheduled.
Anyone who wishes may take part with their own pet in a contest and parade. The councillor has stated that these activities aim to foster coexistence and the bond between people and their pets.
Adoptions and felines
Urdiales highlighted the activities on animal behaviour and cat adoption, an animal that, in his view, is still fairly unknown and is a good companion for many families. There will be talks by specialists and collaborating associations about their needs and their integration into the home.
So far this year, the adoptions recorded in 2025 have been exceeded, with 865 animals from CEPAaMA that have already found a family.
Who organises it
The fair is organised by the Ayuntamiento de Almería and by Athisa, in collaboration with the Club Canino Ciudad de Almería. It will be a meeting point for animal protection associations, veterinary professionals, dog trainers, volunteers, foster families and collaborating organisations.
