The Almería Municipal Sports Board has scheduled a new hiking outing for Sunday, October 25, 2026. The route is called "Sendero Laroya" and runs through the municipality of Laroya, in the Sierra de los Filabres.
The route passes through places such as El Reul Alto, the Fuente del Reul, El Cortijico and the Loma de Liria, and climbs up to the Peña de Juan Felipe, the highest point of the route at 1,556 meters. From there you can see the Tética de Bacares, the Sierra de María, La Sagra and the Valle del Almanzora. Laroya is at an altitude of 850 meters.
The activity is designed for hiking enthusiasts and combines heritage, history and landscape, according to the Board. Registration opened on October 12 and closes when 50 places are filled, which are awarded in strict order of registration.
