Twenty-five agri-food companies from the province have held 92 business meetings with six international operators at the third edition of the reverse mission "Flavours from
Almería – Spain", as detailed by the
Cámara de Comercio de Almería. The meetings were held from October 28 to 30, with a day of individual meetings on Thursday, October 29.
The buyers came from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Puerto Rico. The presence of Puerto Rican operators opens a channel of contact with the American market, while the European ones allow exploring relationships in consolidated markets. Among the participants there were importers, wholesalers, distributors, hospitality companies and specialised establishments.
The meetings were organised with agendas closed in advance, according to the interests of each buyer and the offer of the producers. The Cámara explains that this planning allowed the operators to learn about the products before sitting down with their manufacturers and made the meetings more specific.
The offer presented covered extra virgin olive oil, organic foods, preserves, fifth-range products, sausages, hams, wines, artisanal spirits, nuts, honey and gourmet specialities. Among the participating firms are Campos de Uleila, Hortofrutícola Costa de Almería, Embutidos y Jamones Peña Cruz, Bodegas Sierra Almagrera, Almendras de Andalucía, Miel Sierra Filabres and Luxeapers, among others.
The commercial activity was completed with a programme of visits. On Wednesday, October 28, there was a welcome reception at the Sabores Almería shop with representatives of the Cámara and the Diputación. On Friday, October 30, the buyers visited the Finca Experimental UAL-Anecoop and the Salinas de
Cabo de Gata, as well as the Museo del Realismo Español Contemporáneo (MUREC) and the Alcazaba.
The initiative is part of the Pyme Global programme and has the collaboration of the Diputación Provincial through the Sabores Almería brand. The official chambers of commerce of Spain in Belgium and Luxembourg (Cámara BeLux), Germany and Puerto Rico have also participated, facilitating contact with the operators.
