Pendón Day
Every 26 December Almería hangs the Pendón banner from the Town Hall balcony to remember the Catholic Monarchs' entry into the city in 1489.

Torregarcía Pilgrimage
The first pilgrimage of the year: Almería escorts the Virgen del Mar to Torregarcía beach, where tradition says her image appeared in 1502.

Holy Week in Almería
More than twenty brotherhoods process from Passion Saturday to Easter Sunday. It has been a Festival of National Tourist Interest since 2019.

St John's Eve in Almería
Almería's beaches fill with bonfires, dinners and fireworks on the night of 23 June.

In February or early March, around Ash Wednesday. The competition semi-finals take place a few weeks earlier, and the main street days end on the Sunday after Ash Wednesday with the Burial of the Sardine.
Almería Carnival
Chirigotas, comparsas and parodies compete at the Auditorio, followed by street carnival with a proclamation, a parade and the Burial of the Sardine.

Between late April and the first weekend of May; the exact dates are set each year by the City Council.
May Crosses in Almería
Brotherhoods, associations and schools put up crosses of fresh flowers around the city and compete in the municipal crosses and mayas contest.

In the second half of August, over nine days. The day of the Virgen del Mar, the patron saint, falls during the fair.
